Where and when is this happening?
The game is set in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and takes place in modern day.
Why that location?
Michael and Lucifer know they need to be close enough to keep a pseudo-eye on each other while also providing enough room for their growing armies and eventually chose the Dallas-Fort Worth area because it meets these requirements.
What about the people living there?
Keep in mind that this game is set after the Apocalypse has already begun. Wars amongst mankind have desolated much of the land so, obviously, the population has taken a huge hit. However, there are still NPCs that live in either camp, as well as the neutral area between, and are certainly free for players to move about/use as needed.
So what fandom do Michael and Lucifer come from?
Actually, Michael and Lucifer are mod-created OCs. While we agree there are many amazing versions of these two in various fandoms, we opted to instead come up with versions of our own that would work best within the setting of the game.
Why do Michael and Lucifer need armies anyway?
We're glad you asked! Essentially, the reason they can't simply fight it out between themselves is simple. They are too evenly matched. When initially created, it was with the intention of working together in all things. Now, however, the fact that they are the ying to the other's yang makes it extremely difficult for them to ever one-up or best the other. At least, not without outside help.
My character isn't Christian/religious. Does that mean Michael is automatically hostile to them?
Not at all! Michael's cause (at least as far a she sees it) is the cause of righteousness, not so much that of any one religion or denomination. She's seen her human flock change and argue over what to call themselves and each other for thousands of years, all that matters to her is whether you want to see Heaven realized on Earth, or Hell. Adherents to her specific religious beliefs do get an extra vote of confidence, but mostly in the sense that they will seem already familiar to her, like a soldier who's served under her captaincy before.
Michael's a girl?
Her current form appears female. She uses corresponding pronouns to cut down on explanations of angelic anatomy - or more accurately, lack thereof. She and Lucifer are technically sexless. You can use other pronouns if your character is struggling with the idea or even just used to using "he"; she won't mind. She knows who you mean.
If this is the Apocalypse, where are the horsemen?
Among you, the PCs! Famine, War, Pestilence and Death are titles, not entities. Each title has particular requirements in terms of personality traits and skills, and Lucifer will select from among you according to who seems best for the job. This means that there will not always be a full complement of Horsemen at all times.
Wait, they all work for Lucifer?
Don't worry, Michael has knights of her own: Virtues, whose power and nature offset the Horsemen. Prosperity, Justice, Charity and Salvation serve Michael as the Horsemen serve her darker brother, and like the Horsemen, each position has specific qualifications.
Do Virtues/Horsemen get any powers along with the appointment?
Yes. There are associated powers that come with each position as it's awarded. They start off small, but will grow and develop the longer the position is held.
I want in on that!
Michael and Lucifer are pleased with your enthusiasm, make no mistake, but these things should be considered well - there are costs as well as benefits to these appointments. These are meant to be lifetime roles, so make sure your character is in it for the long haul. Additionally, Horsemen and Virtues are absolutely loyal to their general: constitutionally incapable of disobedience. If your commander says frog, you will jump. Like it or not.
Are there any rules about becoming a Virtue/Horsemen?
ICly, the only rule is that the character must fit the general requirements for that particular role and show some sort of interest in it. Michael and Lucifer can take it from there. OOCly, a player may only have one Virtue and one Horsemen in their roster. This is to ensure equal opportunity for other players as well as prevent any one person from having too many powerful positions within the game.
What if my character is a Virtue/Horseman and decides they want to quit?
It's possible, but there are consequences. In addition to their powers from the appointment, they will lose their own powers as well. Characters without supernormal abilities can substitute memories, or speak with the mods about a different substitution.
What if a player with a character who is a Virtue/Horseman drops that character?
Then the position will again be available to be awarded to another character. However, this character will be starting over in terms of the associated powers. A character who replaces an outgoing War who has held the position for several months would not immediately inherit the advanced form of War's powers, but would start where the original War started.
Is it possible for characters to die in game?
Yes. But be aware that this is not a respawn game. There is no magical checkpoint where you respawn when you die. Michael and Lucifer aren't allowed to personally raise the dead, though they can heal characters who are fatally injured. They can however bestow that power on one of their knights: Death and Salvation have the power to revive any character that dies in game. However, this means that unless or until these appointments are made, it's a good idea not to be too reckless.
Speaking of death, my character dies in their canon. Can I bring them in post-death?
Actually, no - it's that pesky resurrection rule again. You can choose to bring them in at the moment of death, and in those cases your character will arrive in their relevant angel's war room with either one there to meet them personally for a healing session, but nobody's bringing anyone back from the dead from Go.
So what kind of character can I play?
Our only real requirement is that the character be fictional, or at the very least from a fictional work of some sort. So by all means, feel free to app Abraham Lincoln the Vampire Hunter but simply trying to bring in old Honest Abe isn't optional. Sorry.
What if I want to play a child?
That's fine! However, keep in mind that both Michael and Lucifer are amassing armies. Therefore, any characters that are applied must appeal to one (or both) of them in some capacity. If you aren't sure if your ickle muse qualifies, feel free to ask.
What about playing an animal/mechanoid/something else entirely?
Once again, that's perfectly fine. All characters, however, must be able to interact both with their surroundings and the others within the game. Also, for creatures that are extremely huge, size limitations may be put into place in some capacity. We can't have them simply smashing the other side's camp to pieces by tripping over a mountain or something, now can we?
Okay, what about previous game history?
As mentioned in the rules, we do accept characters with a previous game history. However, this is determined on case-by-case basis.
What happens if my character gets captured by the other side?
That's a very good question and the answer is simply we don't know. In the event a capture were to happen, it would depend a great deal on the character and circumstances. Essentially, it would need to be discussed beforehand so all parties involved are aware, and in agreement, of the outcome.
Does my character have to pick a side?
Strictly speaking, no. But opting out isn't as easy as it sounds. Michael and Lucifer will accept true neutrality - but they have a hard time with the concept of helping both sides equally. If you consciously aid one side or the other in a significant capacity and they find out, they will regard it as a commitment to that side, and will respond accordingly.
Then they might not find out?
They're not fully omniscient. What degree of omniscience they appear to have is based on their ability to read souls, not minds. They will know your character's history, their name, their more prominent fears, hopes, strengths and weaknesses, but not what they are thinking or what they do when unsupervised. Not that your character knows this...
Wait. What was that about true neutrality? That's an option?
Of course. There are obviously going to be certain characters who either will have no vested interest in either side or simply refuse to partake. Keep in mind, however, there currently is no faction for those who opt to remain neutral and this is a time of war, so making such a decision might be hazardous to your character's health.
What sort of game/real life time ratio is there?
For every three days in the real world, one day passes in game, although we may slow things down a little more if we feel the bulk of our players would benefit from such a change. Overall, our goal is to keep the game active but not so busy that someone with a full-time job couldn't manage to keep up.
What about events? Three days for a major event isn't very long.
Most major events won't take place during the course of one day in the game. However, for those that do, backtagging is very much encouraged. Not to mention, we can always change the time ratio if we feel it's necessary or warranted.
I have a question not listed here/don't understand something!
Not to worry! Simply reply to this post or, if you'd rather ask privately, contact the mods and we'll happily answer any questions that haven't already been covered, or clarify anything that's unclear.

1. I really like the looks of this game, but the app page just left me with tons of questions. Would it possible to have
- a sample application? That would make it much easier to guess what you are looking for in an app. (I see that you have a couple of characters on the taken list already, maybe for one of them?)
- a page explaining how one sorts their character into good/evil/neutral? (I remember Eachdraidh's birthing pains with their alignment system, though, so sorry if this is overbearing but allow me a few words: Things to look out for when giving directions regarding how to sort one's character would be that in the end you probably want to have evenly matched factions, both in numbers and in drive to do things. ED initially had the problem that most people would sort their character as "good", and later their chaotic faction turned out to be the far more proactive one due to personality factors.)
- a brief explanation on what you're thinking of when you are asking for the sexuality/why you're asking/what should be done when canon is open to interpretation (after all a fictional character's sexuality is almsot always conjecture).
Would we just write N/A, would we explain what we know ("we've never seen him/her in a romantic or sexual situation", "he is married to a woman and likes to slap every gender's rears", "she works as a prostitute for guys, but we haven't seen her express any romantic feelings", "he's kissed a guy", "she seemed to be repulsed when that guy made a pass on her", etcetc), or do you want us to make an educated guess based on what canon information there is?
- are you only looking for physical/ability weaknesses, or also for personality/mental ones?
2. I assume the answer is yes, and if you have it up somewhere and I just missed it I'm sorry - would horse(wo)men, Lucifers or Michaels from other canons be appable? And would they automatically be aligned with the character/position by the same name?
3. I want to echo the other anon's question and would like to know if there will be a tdm.

1. We actually forgot to list a sample application so we seriously thank you for pointing that out. We now have one listed on the application page. We're also going to link you here so you don't have to track it down as you are the one who pointed it out. :)
In so far as alignment goes, that was an oversight on our part. We have decided, however, to go by this as a general guide that can be used when filling out this section. Do note, however, that this is not the only deciding factor on where the character winds up in the game. As mentioned, plenty of characters appear 'good' on paper but not so much in play due to the chaotic factor. This really is more of a tool to aid in getting to know a character, not the only aspect to consider.
Now for sexuality. Once again, the sexuality question is meant more as a tool to be used in the over-all process of breaking down a character in an application. The reason we ask for sexuality is not to 'stick' a character in a specific category but instead to ensure that the player is taking all aspects of canon relationships into account and recognizes that the character likely cannot be classified in one specific category, full stop. Essentially, we are wanting to weed out two types: those who purely look at the romantic relationships involving their character and immediately want to label them 'straight' or 'gay' accordingly and those who are attempting to make a character fit into a category where they simply don't.
Ultimately, however, the sexuality part of the application will never be used to accept or deny a character. If there is canon of some sort to back up what the player feels is that character's sexuality (or, alternatively, if there isn't anything in canon to point one way or the other) we're going to default to what the player feels is the right fit for that character.
When it comes to the weaknesses section, simply list any sort of weaknesses, be they physical or mental ones. We mostly are wanting to make sure players acknowledge that even the most seemingly invincible characters do have weaknesses in some capacity, and we have found this way to be effective in achieving that goal.
2. Yes, all horsepersons, Lucifers, and Michaels from other canons are more than acceptable! No, however, that would not automatically grant them an alignment. That decision is based largely on where the player sees them fitting in/working out best and, in the instance of horsemen/virtue positions, if the mods also feel they would be the best fit for the position.
3. And yes, there is going to be a Test Drive! We're actually going to have that up here very shortly (by tonight at the latest).
Thank you once again for taking the time to respond and, if you have any other questions, we'll be happy to answer them!

1. Thanks for the clarifications, they helped a lot.
I think it might be useful to expand a bit on your explanatory note concerning sexuality on the app form, simply because it is likely to give a lot of people pause, or, if it won't affect the acceptance/rejection of a character, to omit it completely, just because of the massive wank potential. But that are just my two cents, take them or leave them.
2. Iiiiiiiinteresting.
3. Awesome! I will keep an eye open for it.

As for the test drive, it will be up either tonight or in the morning!
